Marithé François Girbaud is a French fashion brand founded in 1972 by Marithé Bachellerie and François Girbaud. Based in Paris, the brand is known for combining a French chic style with various denim innovations. Throughout the years, married couple Marithé and François Girbaud have started multiple fashion brands and stores, including Compagnie des montagnes et des forêts, Ça, Closed and Matricule 11342. While their eponymous label went bankrupt in 2012, the two revived the Marithé + François brand name in 2015, continuing their legacy in pioneering stonewash denim. The brand produces ready-to-wear clothing for men, women and kids, with popular vintage styles such as the Pokachu bag and Tape jeans seeing a recent revival thanks to the Y2K trend.
