Karl Kani Men's Clothing

Karl Kani is an American streetwear brand founded by Carl Williams in 1989. One of the pioneers in early hip-hop fashion, Karl Kani's clothing became wildly popular in the 1990s thanks to its baggy silhouettes. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, the Costa Rican Williams started designing clothes with no formal fashion training or education. After moving to Los Angeles in the late 1980s, Williams founded his brand with the wish to become the "streets' Ralph Lauren." As one of the first successful Black-owned brands, Karl Kani inspired competitors like FUBU, Rocawear and Phat Farm while simultaneously popularizing streetwear and hip-hop-influenced fashion with the baggy Karl Kani jeans, hoodies, and the Kani Ladies sublabel which launched in 2001.
