Gramicci

Founded in Ventura, California, Gramicci has been making functional climbing-inspired clothing since 1982. Energized by a new generation of rock climbers at Yosemite National Park, Gramicci founder Mike Graham sought to design technical apparel focused on the needs and aesthetic preferences of this new class of climbers pioneering the concept of “free climbing,” which did not rely on equipment to scale routes. While hailing from the US, founder Mike Graham chose to give the brand an Italian-sounding name. Since Gramicci was first founded in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, Gramicci fleeces and Gramicci pants have found a footing with professional climbers and urban wardrobes alike.

Gramicci started with a design-focused pair of climbing shorts. Gussets were added for increased flexibility while un-dyed canvas material was chosen for its durability. Inspired by backpack designs, Gramicci waistbands feature a belt that can be adjusted with just one hand. While the brand still manufactures its line of practical durable mens and womens clothing and accessories, vintage Gramicci designs are also increasingly sought out.
