Bottega Veneta was founded in 1966 by Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro in Vicenza, Italy. Due to the region's reputation for producing goods with fabrics, the sewing machines that were available were not suitable for most types of leather. To work around this, Bottega Veneta was forced to use extremely fine leather and weave the leather into a intrecciato pattern, making it stronger. This quilted-esque pattern appears on many of Bottega Veneta’s accessories.
