Atmos opened its doors in 2000. The sneaker and streetwear store based in Harajuku, Tokyo was founded by Hommyo Hidefumi. atmos is most well known for its [sneaker collaborations](https://www.grailed.com/drycleanonly/atmos-collaboration-history). atmos x Nike collabs have resulted in legendary sneakers such as the [atmos x Nike Air Max 1 Elephant](https://www.grailed.com/browse/air-max-1-atmos-elephant) and [atmos x Nike Air Force 1](https://www.grailed.com/browse/nike-air-force-1-atmos) styles. atmos frequently collaborates with Adidas and Puma. The atmos x Asics release was designed in partnership with [Round Two](https://www.grailed.com/designers/round-two) founder and sneaker designer Sean Wotherspoon. The running shoes are made in mismatched colors and feature corduroy uppers. 
As a student in the US, founder Hidefumi started importing American sneakers to Japan. After selling at flea markets, Hidefumi opened atmos originally as a vintage sneaker boutique. atmos branded [hoodies](https://www.grailed.com/designers/atmos/sweatshirts-hoodies) and [hats](https://www.grailed.com/designers/atmos/hats) are popular products at its Harajuku store. atmos also operates retail locations in Philadelphia, Pa., New York, N.Y., and Washington, DC.
