Jordan 1 Bred 1985

Like his game, Michael Jordan's infamous first shoe with Nike was immediately met with notoriety and reverence. Colloquially known as the BRED, the 1985 Nike Air Jordan 1 Black/Red was initially banned by the NBA for not matching the team shoes enough (players wore white shoes then). While the story of the "banned" Jordan shoes has become sneaker mythology, the impact of the original Jordan 1s is as big as ever, with Jordan's first Dunk Contest win in 1985 as the first testament to its greatness. Jordan reissued the BRED Air Jordan 1s with different minor tweaks several times in the 21st century, with retros named "Bred" or "Banned" in 2001, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2016. Jordan also capitalized on the popularity of the Chicago Bulls colorway by using it for other Jordan models, as well as satin and Flyknit versions of the original shoe.
