Carhartt J97
While Carhartt's Detroit jacket remains one of the most classic timeless designs, reigning supreme since 1954, the real Carhartt devotees know there are significant differences between the modern Detroit and the classic J97 design. J97 was the code given to the Detroit jacket that used sandstone-washed duck canvas. Compared to modern versions of the Detroit jacket, the J97 generally has a boxier fit, with a straight bottom hem instead of an extended rounded one and a roomier body and upper arm sleeve. It also has a thicker canvas and traditional back shoulder gussets, perfect for that real vintage Americana aesthetic.
