BAPE's first collaboration with Illumination's Minions surfaced in 2015 to coincide with the release of the Despicable Me offshoot Minions movie. Having the bubbly characters team up with Baby Milo seemed an instant success, so much so that A Bathing Ape X Minions received following collections in 2017 and 2022 to accompany the theatrical release of Minions: The Rise of Gru.
