Balenciaga Double Waist

Ever since Demna Gvasalia took over the helm at Balenciaga in 2015, the Spanish-French fashion house has been at the forefront of subverting fashion norms and standards. One of the many cases is how Balenciaga uses styling cues in its garments, namely through excessive layering and innovative blends of seemingly dissonant materials such as wool and denim.

A prime example of Balenciaga's imaginative designs are the double waist sweatpants, which create an illusion of wearing two pairs at once. First introduced in 2018, the Balenciaga Double Waisted sweatpants, jeans and shorts combine camo cargo shorts with stone-washed denim or show Balenciaga branded boxers protruding from a pair of blank sweatpants.
