Balenciaga Arena
Before Demna Gvasalia took his Vetements antics to the Spanish-French luxury house, Balenciaga still focused on a more classic approach to luxury. One of the prime examples of the "old Balenciaga" is the Balenciaga Arena, a piece of footwear introduced in 2010 under the creative direction of Nicolas Ghesquière.
The Balenciaga Arena sneakers have a basketball-inspired silhouette, featuring a recognizable wide padded tongue and D-ring lace grommets. Available in high and low variants for men and women, the Balenciaga Arenas were one of the most popular luxury sneakers in the early 2010s. While the shoes have been produced in many different materials and colors, the most classic style is still the Balenciaga Arena black leather. Although the shoe has been out of production for quite some time, you can still find great pairs on the vintage market.
