In 2001, the late Sandy Bodecker was entrusted with revitalizing the struggling SB branch of the Nike empire. One of her hallmark decisions was to keep it simple and reimagine the Dunk—a former basketball shoe originally released in 1985—for skaters. It would soon see a wide release and the low-top skate shoe would become one of the pillars of the SB brand.

In 2002, it made sense for the Supreme—a skate brand at its core—to tap the Dunk as its first Nike collaboration. Originally releasing in two colorways (white and black), decorated with the all-over elephant print made famous by the Air Jordan III, this became an instant smash. These originally retailed for $65 and are now one of the most sought after sneakers on the secondary market. The release was also accompanied by an elephant print jacket and Supreme camp caps. The partnership was quickly off to a great start.

The Dunk was originally marketed as a basketball shoe when it was released in 1985 (it bears a striking resemblance to the Jordan I, released the same year) and became ubiquitous in the college hoops sphere thanks to its never-ending spectrum of colorways.

Coming off the heels of the successful Dunk Low Pro release the year prior, it made sense to stick with another reimagined version of the Dunk for a follow-up. These star-spangled Dunk HIs became a must for hypebeasts and Supreme stans alike. They originally retailed for $75—and were released alongside star-print hooded sweats and Supreme bobble beanies—but still appear in street style galleries and fetch for well over $1,000 on aftermarket sites today.

Nike first introduced the Delta Force in 1986 as a part of its basketball roster, joining the ranks of the Terminators and the aforementioned Dunks. It had a short shelf life as an SB model, but made enough of an impression for Supreme to select it for its next collaboration.

They chose to go with the ¾ model for this skate shoe because of it featured added padding with an overall smoother design than a full-on High. Originally releasing in three colorways for $130, all with 3M tongues and gum soles, it was the first (of many) time(s) Supreme would take an obscure Nike model and flip it the Supreme way.

The Supreme x Nike Blazer release may have been the moment where these Nike collaborations hit the stratosphere. These Blazers are lush streetwear at its finest, complete with Gucci-inspired heel accents and a faux-snakeskin swoosh. A true intersection of high fashion, streetwear and hoops all rolled into one incredible shoe.

The Nike Blazer was originally released in 1973 as its cornerstone basketball sneaker. Over the years, as hoopers gravitated towards more advanced designs, the Blazer was adopted by skaters, as the soles of the Blazer provided great traction and the leather uppers were able to withstand the daily beatings. Supreme’s version was released alongside a track jacket and matching shorts in three different colorways.

The Trainer TW 2 was Supreme and Nike’s first foray away from the skate world and into a cross-trainer. This release once again pulled inspiration from the Air Jordan line—in particular the Jordan IV—with its netted side panel. A Supreme baseball jacket was released in conjunction with the Trainer TW 2 as well. It was the first sneaker in the pair’s history of collaborations to feature the Supreme logo and caused quite a stir on its release day in 2007.

The legendary Tinker Hatfield originally designed the Nike Air Trainer in 1987 in an effort to dominate both at the gym and on the field. John McEnroe wore them on the tennis court and Bo Jackson made the Air Trainer SC famous on the gridiron. Supreme pulled inspiration from all over the Nike spectrum to feed the streets with this one.

Much like some of the other famous sneakers on this list, the Bruin originally released in 1972 as a basketball shoe before eventually becoming a favorite in the skating community. The Bruin is relatively simple in its approach, but Supreme sprinkled a bit of its unique flair on this version, complete with a metallic swoosh and its WORLD FAMOUS branding on the heel tab, not to mention a mini box logo in the midsole and a dual-branded tag. The sneaker would match the “WORLD FAMOUS” twill jacket Supreme released that season as well.

While this release may have lacked the overall hype of other Nike mainstays like 2006’s Blazer, Nike and Supreme kept it pretty simple with this and there’s nothing wrong with that approach. These can fetch for anywhere between $200-$500 on the resale market depending on the colorway; naturally, the predominantly black and white versions fetch the highest prices.

As you can see throughout this timeline of releases, throughout Supreme’s working relationship with Nike, there has always been notable growth. Every few years they extend a little further, taking the partnership to the next level, taking hard turns in directions that wouldn’t have been possible in prior years. That’s exactly what happened in Fall 2010 when the Nike SB 94 was released, the first original Nike shoe designed by Supreme.

Releasing in four colorways, the SB 94 served as an homage to Supreme’s skate DNA while experimenting with new Nike design achievements. In keeping with the tradition of skaters adopting basketball silhouettes, the design remained firmly in that Dunk-meets-Jordan I mold, but with the added advantages of Nike’s proprietary Foamposite support and Zoom Air technology.

The following year, Supreme and Nike made slight changes to their SB 94 model, this time paying a noticeable homage to Supreme’s hometown New York City by drawing inspiration from an NYC classic—the Timberland boot.

Both the wheat and black colorways were made of suede with dark soles, ideal for plodding along on the messy New York streets. Supreme took feedback it received from skaters during the original release and tweaked the toe box and back heel, in an effort to improve comfort for its skaters. And, if there was any doubt who this shoe was designed for, there’s a NYC graphic on the heel tab for good measure.

The shoe so nice they had to release it twice. Ten years after the original debut of the Nike Dunk Low Pro SB Supreme, the two companies brought it back out in a new red-accented colorway, still draped in that iconic elephant print pattern.

The 2012 version originally retailed for $148 and remain as one of the most sought after pairs in the Supreme x Nike collaboration catalog.

The continued growth of Supreme as a brand and trusted Nike collaborator allowed them to steer away from the SB models and move on to other Nike products. The Air Force 1 is arguably one the most successful Nike cultural icons of all time and it was a wonder that it took a decade for Supreme to get its hands on it. Given that the Air Force 1 stands as one of New York City’s signature sneakers, the pairing feels more inevitable than unconventional in hindsight.

A staple of the Fall/Winter line, the Air Force 1 was designed with canvas NYCO uppers and gum bottoms, with a tiny box logo hanging from the swoosh. Military green, black and camo colorways made these perfect for a harsh winter. These, much like the SB 94s, were clearly made with New York in mind.

Supreme steered back to SBs once again with its take on the 1980s Tennis Classic. Releasing in four colorways—including a neon Volt colorway—and armed with Zoom technology, Supreme kept it rather simple with this release.

These are some of the cheapest Supreme x Nike sneakers on the resale market, probably due to its overall subtle branding and it being a rather inconspicuous silhouette, but it’s still a dope shoe with solid details.

For Supreme and Nike, the pair returned, once again, to a simple idea: Evolution. Departing completely from the basketball-meets-skate world, Supreme decided to try its hand at the running sneaker, releasing its take on the Flyknit Lunar 1+ in October 2013, right when fashion and streetwear’s infatuation with running shoes was really hitting its stride, so to speak.

The Flyknit trainer and racer were both huge hits for Nike around this time and it made sense for Supreme to capitalize on the hype. With Flyknit first released to the public back in February 2012, this one was of the first forward-facing shoes Supreme had ever worked on (outside of creating its own back with the Nike SB 94). Supreme chose the lesser-known Lunar model in an all-black colorway instead of one of the aforementioned popular models. It was the first time it worked a flyknit shoe, and the Supreme branding can be found larger than normal, stitched into the upper fabric.

If you follow Supreme and its designs—which are so unpredictable and can land anywhere from the subdued to the outlandish--it’s no surprise they eventually decided to tackle the Foamposite, one of the most debated Nike designs of all time.

The Foamposite originally debuted in 1997 as the signature shoe for Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway in its now legendary blue colorway, but have since seen dozens of iterations. Supreme took this sneaker to the next level by dressing it in the sneaker equivalent of a Versace shirt, with ornate golden baroque designs you might find in Renaissance churches or in your grandparents’ closet.

The black and red colorways, released with matching basketball jerseys and shorts, were such a huge hit that the NYPD had to shut down Supreme’s in-store release due to insane crowds forming days before its scheduled release—citing “public safety.”

Supreme kept it simple with its take on the Air Force 1 High in 2014. With three basic colorways (red, white and black), the notable design feature on these is the WORLD FAMOUS straps and the Supreme branding around the heel. They would also include a set of plain straps in case you wanted to tone down your branding.

The Highs diverted a bit from the lows in that they stuck with traditional premium leather as opposed to the canvas, as well as relying on the most basic of colorways. The Supreme red version was the first Supreme sneaker to ever be released on the NikeLab online store. The preferred basketball shoe of one-time New York Knick and Air Force 1 evangelist, Rasheed Wallace, naturally made for a classic Supreme release.

Supreme made its triumphant return to its SB roots in 2015 with the release of the “Greatest Tennis Sneaker,” a former tennis shoe originally released in 1993 that was eventually co-opted by skaters. The scaled back design resembled any number of low-top Vans, with a canvas upper and rubber sole. These released in five colorways.

For Supreme’s first foray into the rarefied air of Jordan Brand, it veered a bit off course and opted for the Air Jordan V. Jordans had been popular among Supreme clientele since its doors opened in 1994, and the Jordan I had long been a popular shoe among skaters, but the V was chosen to release alongside a head-to-toe apparel collection 25 years after its original 1990 release.

Three colorways were originally released, including black nubuck, white leather and camo offerings. The design featured “Sup” branding on the side netting, as well as multiple box logos, but perhaps the most “Supreme” tweak was changing the traditional Jordan “23” on the side to Supreme’s “94”—the year the brand was founded.

The sneaker was released just ahead of an apparel collection, modeled by his Airness himself. The T-shirt, featuring the Jumpman logo and “Supreme” written in Jordan Brand type, was the centerpiece of the collection.

Much like the unsuspecting Jordan V, it was no real surprise that when it came time to collaborate with an Air Max, the underrated Air Max 98 was pegged as the sneaker of choice. The Supreme Air Max 98 originally released in four colors, including black, blue and red patent leather, as well as a faux snakeskin. The patent leather design bears somewhat of a resemblance to a Prada America’s Cup (the red colorway, especially), and the bulkier design was a bit of foreshadowing of thehttps://www.neimanmarcus.com/ca/2/product_assets/N/1/Z/2/E/NMN1Z2E_mu.jpg oversized runner bubble that was about a year or two away from bursting.

The Air Max 98 was originally designed by Sergio Lozano, the legendary designer of the Air Max 95. The 98 remains an underappreciated and rarely retroed sneaker compared to other classic Nike models—especially when compared to the other marque Air Max released in 1998: the Air Max Plus. Naturally, Supreme chose to work with the more unconventional shoe. You can still find sizes available on retail sites at respectable prices (you’ll pay a bit more for the snakeskin) with a Supreme x Nike Dri-Fit hat to match.

Much like the contrasting Air Force 1 releases, Supreme and Nike brought back the Blazer (this time in a low top design).Supreme eliminated the quilted leather, the Gucci-inspired accents and snakeskin swoosh for monochrome suede, a leather swoosh and rubber gum soles. “FTW” adorns the heal box. Simple yet effective.

If you’ve been paying attention, you’d know that this is the exact sneaker Supreme would take a crack at.

The Air More Uptempo has always been one of the more outlandish Nike basketball shoes since its original release in 1996. It was worn, most notably, by Scottie Pippen during the Chicago Bulls’ epic 1995-96 season. Its design was bold and obnoxious, perfect for an unstoppable dynasty running through the NBA. That design made it the perfect option for one of Nike and Supreme’s more outlandish designs.

Supreme doubled down on the bold silhouette with even bolder design changes and color palettes. The shoe originally released in three colorways—a tonal black iteration, a Supreme-appropriate red-white, and tonal gold. The original design had “AIR” stitched in large bubble letters on both sides of the shoe. For Supreme’s version, the word “Supreme” wraps around the entire shoe.

The Air Force 2 obviously plays second fiddle to its predecessor in the annals of sneaker history. However, considering Supreme’s history with unearthing or working with unloved and unconventional sneaker models in the past, it’s not too surprising that the New York City label would get its hands on the Air Force 2.

Originally released in 1987 for basketball purposes, the Air Force 2 has been largely forgotten in recent years. Supreme kept it classic for this release, keeping the premium leather draped in bright teal, orange and yellow pairs, along with a more muted dark brown.

Nike is far from the only brand to have a long-lasting collaborative relationship with Supreme. Comme des Garçons SHIRT followed up a creative partnership with Supreme when the group released its take on the Air Force 1 during the Spring/Summer 2017 season. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the trio selected this model to present as a part of this collaboration, as the Air Force 1 was celebrating it’s 35th anniversary that year.

Complete with microscopic branding on the side and a repeating eyes graphic on the outer uppers (a motif seen in the collaboration collection’s apparel offering), Supreme had another hit on its hands. The shoe is a monster on the resale market and one of the most popular Supreme x Comme des Garçons collaborations to date. The accompanying apparel collection, launched roughly a month before the sneakers, included a parka, a shirt, a suit, a wallet and a take on the famous Box Logo T-shirt (inspired by an older Comme des Garçons ad campaign from Stephen J. Shanabrook).

Supreme’s sneaker evolution continued in 2017 when it took on its first outdoor trail runner, the Air Humara. Releasing in three distinct neon colorways and an all-black offering, Supreme embarked on a more rugged outdoor look but with that distinct Supreme design.

Originally released in 1997 and designed by Peter Fogg, Supreme released the Humara with a whole slew of apparel, including trail running jackets and pants, as well as a hat, for its 20th anniversary.

For the Spring/Summer 2018 season, Nike and Supreme debuted a collaboration with the NBA and its all-over print Air Force 1 Mid, a clear homage to the infamous “NBA jackets” and “NBA jeans” (heavily popularized by hip-hop fashion in the late-’90s and early-2000s) that featured garments covered with patches of NBA team logos.

Beyond the sneaker, the partnership introduced an entire line of NBA apparel accessories, jerseys and shorts. The Supreme-branded shooting sleeve would be displayed on the court in NBA games by J.R. Smith (who modeled the collaboration collection for Supreme) and Kelly Oubre. The NBA would ban the Supreme-branded bands on the court after that, despite it being an officially sanctioned collaboration by the league, its apparel provider—Nike—and Supreme.

“I don’t know if it’s too wavy for ‘em,” Oubre said in a post-game interview after wearing the shooting sleeve. “But I was just having fun.”

While the NBA-branded Nike Air Force 1 Mid may be the least hyped of all the Air Force 1 Supreme releases (they currently are the cheapest on resale sites), it continued to show Supreme’s growth and reach, partnering with a giant like the NBA. Given that Nike had recently obtained the NBA sponsorship rights, and Supreme is a consistent Nike collaborator, this partnership seemed more likely than it might at first glance.

Originally released in 2003 and designed by Steven Smith, the Zoom Streak Spectrum Plus quickly became a forgotten silhouette in the Nike collection. The accompanying flames that engulf the shoes are definitely a departure from these other sneaker designs, but its low-brow aesthetics proved to be right up Supreme’s alley.

The Supreme x Nike Zoom Streak Spectrum Plus released in just two colorways 15 years after its initially landed on shelves. Additional branding was basically non-existent, but you really don’t need it when there are multi-colored flames all over the upper. Dropping shortly after Supreme took home the Menswear Designer of the Year prize at the 2018 CFDA Awards, you could say that brand was...frankly, on fire.

In 2003, Nike SB released a relatively unsuccessful indoor soccer shoe called the Nike SB Air Zoom FC. It took a decade for Nike to rebrand the shoe as the Nike SB Lunar Gato, and the rest is history.

Supreme took the obscure silhouette and dressed it in some premium materials like calfskin leather uppers, side panels and gum soles ideal for skating. Complete with its “WORLD FAMOUS” branding across both heels, Supreme continued its streak of bringing under-appreciated silhouettes back to life.

While this was far from the first time Supreme and Nike had worked together on apparel, this was the first collaboration collection that wasn’t centered around a pair of sneakers. Appearing roughly a month after Supreme and Nike reworked the SB Gato, this partnership consisted mostly of workwear-inspired apparel, seen in chore coats, reversible vests, overalls and hooded flannels. All-over print logo polos and sweatshirts and pants rounded out the collection.

The 2017 release was such a success that Supreme and Comme des Garçons SHIRT went back to the well for another Air Force 1 release in 2018.

Like the monochromatic (albeit, more graphic) 2017 release, the 2018 model replicated the themes found in the accompanying apparel collaboration collection, this time focusing on a “split logo” motif. In the context of the Air Force 1, the side panel Swoosh was split in two. In the apparel, the split Comme des Garçons logo was found on a topcoat and Box Logo T-shirt and hoodie. Other apparel included a Schott leather jacket, cotton sweater, painter pants and a chore coat.

For its first Nike collab of 2019, Supreme took a crack at the also oft-forgotten Nike Air Max Tailwind IV model, a shoe that was celebrating its 20th anniversary (not counting the 40 year anniversary of the overall Tailwind sneaker line) Supreme’s version came in two colorways, red and white and black and blue, both with speckled uppers and subtle Supreme branding throughout. Like several other Nike collabs, Supreme brought it back with matching hats.

The duo’s second apparel-centric collection, this release—inspired by both bootleg Nike merch and 2000s-era sportswear—features a small batch of goods. Centered around a quilted nylon sport jacket and matching pants, the collaboration also featured a hoodie, matching sweatpants a shoulder bag that mirrored the styling seen on the sport jacket.

For its final Nike collaboration of the Spring/Summer 2019 season and its second attempt at transforming an Air Jordan, Supreme selected the XIV, a shoe most famous for Michael Jordan’s last shot as a member of the Chicago Bulls—a game-winning jumper against the Utah Jazz for his sixth and final NBA Championship in 1998.

Tinker Hatfield originally designed these with a Ferrari in mind, engineered to be very sleek and stylish. Despite the Jordan XIV’s place in Jordan lore they aren’t anywhere near a top-tier Jordan design, so it makes sense that Supreme took a stab at it. The most notable design change are the metal studs on the uppers, with tiny Supreme and Jordan co-branding on the sides, heel and tongue. There is both a red-white colorway and a black-royal colorway.
