The New York subway is notorious for its weekly delays, turnstile jumpers and the place for general chaos. So, leave it up to Supreme to add to the disorder at Metrocard machines. A New York City icon in its own, indirect way, it’s fitting that Supreme would plaster its iconic red branding on something that’s so ingrained into the lives of everyday New Yorkers—whether they know about Supreme or not. There’s also something ingenious about making people pay the MTA for their own Supreme-branded card.

Supreme’s love for boxing has been incorporated into their designs since 1997 when the brand released a Muhammad Ali graphic tee. In 1998-1999, Supreme paid homage to Everlast in an unofficial collab, doing what Supreme always does: Swipe another brand’s logo and flip it. A decade later, it finally collaborated officially on a set of boxing gloves. Given Supreme’s scrappy, fighting spirit, it’s natural that it would create custom boxing gear.

Supreme filmed an official promotional video at Anderson’s Martial Arts Academy in New York for their nunchucks. A traditional martial arts weapon, nunchucks also tap into Supreme’s counterculture commentary, as they have been outlawed and deemed illegal to carry on the street in New York for years.

The chopsticks might have been a homage to Pearl River Mart store, an iconic Chinese-American department store near Supreme’s Manhattan home base. After 45 years of business, the family-owned store closed in 2016, but eventually relocated in TriBeCa nine months later.

Supreme put its brand on the iconic Chinese soup bowl design, which features the Chinese character for longevity. Perhaps this was a tongue-in-cheek way for Supreme to celebrate its own rising prosperity, wealth and longevity as a brand, with a cultural touch.

The Fall/Winter 2017 collection included a collaboration with Brian De Palma’s iconic 1983 movie Scarface, featuring the rise and fall of Tony Montana. The inflatable blimp happens to pay homage to a classic scene from the film (which was also honored on a T-shirt that released as a part of the cinematic collaboration).

With Nike as an official NBA sponsor and supplier, the Swoosh’s relationship with Supreme has brought it closer than ever to the modern-day personalities dominating the league. Released at time when swaggy young players in the NBA—including Nick Young, Jordan Clarkson, Devin Booker and Kelly Oubre Jr.—have embraced the brand as one of their favorites, the shooting sleeve made waves when Oubre Jr. wore the accessory on court during an official NBA game in—fittingly—Brooklyn back in December of 2017.

The cash paperweight was never released, but it followed a recurring theme of money and wealth in the brand’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection, which included a $100 Bill trucker jacket. Perhaps a nod to Supreme’s own ascendence from upstart streetwear brand to a company valued at a billion dollars (shouts to the Carlyle Group).

The Braun ET66 calculator, first produced in 1987, inspired the design of the original iPhone. Given that Supreme has always shown a penchant for honoring the work artists from across the spectrum, it stands to reason that Supreme would honor Dieter Rams—a titan of 20th century design. Perhaps a commentary from Supreme on the changing technological ways of the world… or maybe it’s just forsight on behalf of those behind the brand, aiming to provide an accessory for resellers to readily calculate the return on investment copping Supreme’s products.

The rebellious nature of Supreme’s brand would lead one to think that this accessory was symbolic for something like “throwing a brick through a window.” Maybe it was Supreme’s canny understanding of its audience and modern lingo—with a “brick” better known as a synonym for a bad purchase. Perhaps it was a meta-reference that the brand’s products are so renowned that it would ironically be the first time anyone could actually be copping a brick product from Supreme. That—or, James Jebbia just said, “I want to make a Supreme brick.”

This was released in conjunction with Supreme’s collaboration with Sasquatchfabrix., the Japanese brand founded by Daisuke Yokoyama, a label that draws inspirations from many facets of Japanese and East Asian culture. The folding fan, which was invented in Japan, feels like a natural accessory to release in a collaboration with a brand so influenced by Japanese culture and imagery.

A streetwear brand selling a buck knife seems insane, although Supreme has never been afraid to gear its accessories with references to the more tough, aggressive and even violent corners of city life and, more broadly, the human experience. Besides, if Supreme is quickly rising as an icon of American life, it would sit alongside the buck knife—a staple in households across the country since its invention in 1902. It’s also hilarious to picture a middle-schooler bringing their mom to a Supreme drop and asking if he can borrow buy a buck knife from a streetwear brand.

A perfect accessory for dice games that unfold in the street corners of cities across the world—New York included. We’d also imagine this would be the perfect set of dice to bring to the World Series of Dice (shouts to Dave Chappelle). As with most of its accessories, Supreme blends in street culture with the absurdity of featuring its brand on products you would never think of associating a streetwear brand with.

Another literal interpretation of one of the most commonly-seen activities on the streets in New York, drinking in public out of a brown bag. Be it on the sidewalks in Brooklyn or heading out of Penn Station on the Long Island Rail Road, if you’ve lived in the city, there’s no way that you haven’t encountered this in the wild. It’s not as discrete doing it with a brown paper bag with a giant Supreme box logo on it, but maybe that was the point the brand was trying to make. Nothing exemplifies Supreme’s over-the-top nature like flexing the fact you’re sipping on a fresh, bodega-bought tallboy.

Seemingly a nod to both the criminal-element of bolt cutters and Supreme’s initial start as a skateboarding brand, the bolt cutters would be perfect for skateboarders to use to cut up a chain link fence and break into a place to skate.

Released at a time when lineups outside Supreme stores before Thursday drops started to swell, the folding chair could have been a perfect accessory for everyone who was camping out overnight—or paying someone to do so.

An even more useful accessory for lineups, the Supreme x The North Face sleeping bag was perfect for the most dedicated level of hypebeast: someone who might spend at least one night sleeping outside a store in order to secure a box logo hoodie. A tongue-in-cheek nod to all the campers from Supreme? We hope so.

Supreme has always shown love for the New York Yankees, the most iconic franchise in Major League Baseball history. This includes a collaboration with the franchise and ‘47 brand back in spring 2015. Its love for the Yankees and the rich tradition of baseball in New York extends to its many baseball bat releases, from 2006’s Louisville Slugger (and the 2011 re-release), to 2015’s Mizuno metal bat and even a wiffle ball set in 2016.

Given Supreme’s love for baseball, it was a natural collaboration with Rawlings, the exclusive supplier of baseballs to Major League Baseball, on a branded baseball and glove in 2012.

Before Supreme collaborated with high fashion brands (see: Louis Vuitton) it was taking making its own interpretations of other brand’s products. Case in point: this Hermès-inspired ashtray. While it definitely wasn’t the case at release, it’s funny to think that Supreme’s version of an accessory is now more expensive than its inspiration.

On the surface, using a Bible as a stash box speaks to the classic practice of carving out the inside of a book (no matter how “holy”) and using it as a stash spot. But—and, sure maybe we’re reaching—it was also Supreme’s way of poking fun at how that its brand had become, in some ways, a religion for hypebeasts.

Surviving in New York for many involves navigating the city’s many roadways by bike lane. In 2016, Supreme might be paying homage to NYC robust biking culture through an accessory collaboration with cycling outfitter Lezyne on a bike pump.

The Gilapple is a classic symbol in the wider Undercover brand canon. Considering that Undercover has become something of a regular appearance in Supreme’s roster of collaborators, it makes sense that this already red object is something the brand would plaster its name on. It turned out to be a cool fashion collaboration without being an actual piece of clothing. Besides, given that Supreme is such a symbol of the “Big Apple”, it seems all the more fitting it’d release one.

Believe it or not, Chanel (or rather, a mock Chanel item created by artist Niclas Castello) was actually the motivation behind this collaboration. As James Jebbia explained in an interview with The New York Times, “I’m influenced a lot by Chanel and by what Karl Lagerfield has done. Often times we get asked, ‘Why are you doing a fire extinguisher?’ I’m like, ‘Well, Chanel can.’” This is easily one of the more recognizable “offbeat” accessories within the wider Supreme archive.

Even when Supreme has ventured into accessories that make you scratch your head and wonder why, it’s always stayed consistent. Whether throwing in your equally-branded toolbox to tackle your own projects, or breaking in a glass window—as weird as this item might seem at first, it feels almost natural as a host to the infamous box logo.

Summertime releases would at times focus on accessories that were perfect for an out-of-town visit to a beach or park in New York during one of its classic hot summer days. While Supreme has hinted to gun violence in varying degrees on various different items and accessories, this water pistol is an all-ages friendly accessory that likely was a reference to summer time in the Big Apple. Even as ubiquitous as these kind of plastic toys are at stores around the country, this is apparently one of Supreme’s rarer accessory releases.

One of the staples of hanging out at streetwear stores like Supreme is that you’re bound to have one of man’s best friends hanging out too, like LA store manager Jeff Kutter’s Instagram-famous hound Charles. Supreme might have given a nod to that with its dog bowl release in 2011.

Aside from the near-infinite uses for a deck of cards in households across the world, like the dice set, a deck of playing cards could be seen as a reference to daily life in NYC; whether playing a quick game on the corner, or hustling for some extra cash, a deck of cards’ universality lends itself well to Supreme’s eye for accessories.

The switchblade is a well-known street weapon. Combined with a comb, it brings back feelings of counterculture movements of the past, while combining a sense of danger and style. All things considered, that juxtaposition is central to Supreme’s brand, attitude and ethos.

The collaboration with Everlast continued Supreme’s continued homage to boxing culture, but perhaps also a nod to the rise of the fitness craze in places like New York and Los Angeles, where Supreme has store locations, as crossfit training and yoga have become part of many people’s regular routines. Trying to cop the full set of boxing-related collaboration gear from this season (which included a ring-ready satin robe) is the true flex.

If you were a guy looking to just hang out in New York City—if you weren’t at a skateboard shop or streetwear store—chances are you were taking up space at your local barbershop. Whether looking for a fresh cut or or just shooting the shit with some heated conversation, babershops in New York (and, let’s be honest, cities around the country) have been de facto cultural centers that impact their communities as much as anything else. These clippers are likely a nod to the barbershop, where everyone’s opinions are heard, even if they’re not respected.

The air horn traces back to Supreme’s long-held love for many classic American sports, since it is widely used in games like wrestling and ice hockey—to name a few. But let’s be honest: This piece has seen more action as a tool to annoy others, as opposed to time on the sidelines.

For a brand that once printed a series of shirts and hoodies that read “Illegal business controls America,” the crowbar—a popular tool known to conduct some of those illegal activities—seems like a continuation of those same themes.

Considering Supreme’s tradition of tapping into American pop culture and traditional American sports, releasing a football seemed damn near inevitable.

Supreme’s “don’t give a fuck” attitude is as deeply ingrained in the brand’s history as the box logo itself. It might not be this way any longer, but a rug that says “Fuck ‘Em” in giant letters fits the brand’s history general inhospitable service. This includes preventing shoppers from touching things they weren’t going to buy, holding sold-out gear in the back for family and friends and refusing sales to people staffers simply didn’t like on-sight.

As mayor of New York, Fiorello La Guardia once said pinball machines robbed, “the pockets of schoolchildren in the form of nickels and dimes given to them as lunch money.” Pinball machines have long been affiliated with the mafia as a racket, especially in New York. Fittingly, as much as it does require a level of skill, pinball is a game of chance—an emotional combination that strangely mirrors what it’s like copping the newest Supreme drop every Thursday.

The money gun is arguably Supreme’s most brash statement in its continuing celebration of wealth and clout. There’s literally no better way to flaunt a stockpile of cash than having it shoot out of a Supreme-themed money gun. Rap video and strip club connotations aside, if you’re one of the many blowing thousands of dollars on streetwear every week, a Cash Cannon seems like the next obvious purchase.

Supreme has often paid its respects to common summertime activities, and the beach ball and inflatable raft release are no exception. You might not get a whole lot of use for this within the New York city limits, but it is another reminder than Supreme has accessories for nearly every activity you may take part in.

Hanging out outside in the winter months in New York City can be an unforgiving experience. For those who may have caught a cold after spending long stretches outdoors (likely skating), the hot water bottle should to be a necessary accessory.

The kayak might be another accessory where Jebbia said, “I want to release a kayak, so I’m going to.” This certainly continues a recent trend of Supreme growing more ambitious with its accessory releases. Metaphorically, we see it as a statement that the streetwear brand plans on continuing to navigate the rising waters of streetwear competition.

The metal toolbox is an accessory that has multi-purpose use, but clearly the best way to actually use a Supreme-branded toolbox is to carry it around with all the other Supreme-branded construction tools tucked inside.

Supreme has paid homage to some of the most iconic American musicians like John Coltrane and Michael Jackson with its graphic tees, so it makes sense they would extend that thought into its accessory section by reworking Fender’s most iconic design, the Stratocaster. It might have been inspired by Eric Clapton as well, a noted Supreme fan and one of the few musicians to have once created his own signature Stratocaster model with Fender.

The recent release of the Supreme Zippo lighter continues the trend of Supreme-branded lighters that dates back two decades, to 1998, when a "motion logo" lighter was released. The motion logo itself was known to be inspired by Saul Bass’s Goodfellas title screen. Regardless of the drop, whenever a collection has a lighter included in the offering, it generally reflects and reuses the graphics, themes or imagery featured in other parts of the collection.

Supreme’s interpretation of the retro Simpson Street Bandit helmet paid tribute to street bike culture, and in true “purchase-at-your-own-risk” fashion, a helmet waiver form had to be signed since it was actually not certified for road use. In fact, the waiver explicitly states that it is meant for off-road use, on a closed track or for display purposes only.

With five store locations in Japan and its long history of collaborating with iconic Japanese brands and designers, Supreme teaming up with Japanese manufacturer Zojirushi on a stainless steel mug was a perfect fit.

From a practical standpoint, a neoprene face mask is a perfect accessory for the harsh winters of New York. But a face mask a convenient way to conceal your identity when getting into all sorts of trouble… though we don’t think that using a highly-visible, Supreme branded face mask is very discrete. This piece would also re-release with the Supreme logo, written in Arabic, three years later.

Released two years before Supreme’s collaboration with Akira (and the accompanying pill tees and trays), the pill case was an accessory that worked on a practical level but also a tip to whatever concoction of pills someone would want to carry around with them on any given day.

If you weren’t on a skateboard riding around New York City in 1998, chances are you were on a cruiser bike. Supreme teamed up with Brooklyn Machine Works to make 36 24-inch cruiser bikes as a nod to the youth culture of the times. This was a “friends and family” release (Eric Clapton was lucky enough to purchase one), and one of Supreme’s rarest. Consider yourself lucky if you get to see one of these in person, much less own and ride one.

Almost 20 years after the Brooklyn Machine Works collaboration, Supreme released a minibike. Gas-powered (and definitely not street legal), this reeks of Supreme’s mischievous side. With plenty of bike crews riding these around the outer boroughs of New York and across the greater Los Angeles area, there’s nothing quite as rebellious as popping an illegal wheelie in the middle of one of the nation’s biggest cities.

With New York being home to Rucker Park, Madison Square Garden, and a rich history of basketball, it’s logical that Supreme teamed up with Spalding for an all-red basketball in 2007. It’s become one of the most sought-after accessories in the brand’s archive. In later years, other basketballs have been released, like a collaboration with Mark Gonzales during the Spring/Summer 2016 season.
