After much anticipation, leaked images and rumors swirling, the adidas Yeezy 500 High is finally being released.

Kanye West himself has been talking about making basketball-ready Yeezys since signing with adidas years ago—even playing in the Yeezy 750 Boost just to show it could be done. Unfortunately, the Yeezy 500’s soft upper construction was less than ideal for on-court wear.

Finally, a sturdier Yeezy High top sneaker—boasting an upper composed of elastane, leather and suede with a padded collar—is here to fill that void. The midsole features adiPRENE technology, the same used on the original Yeezy 500 as well as the adidas Crazy 8, worn by NBA legend Kobe Bryant. The “Slate” colorway features various shades of black on the upper with a sail colored midsole and outsole.

The adidas Yeezy 500 High “Slate” will be available exclusively in Men’s sizes on December 16 via adidas and its stockists. If you missed out on the drop—no worries; visit Grailed for your chance to cop.
