S/S 08 Issey Miyake + Dyson “The Wind” Dress

This structural dress from Issey Miyake’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection features a number of insane details throughout the garment. It has open and closed pockets all over the dress that were meant to capture how air flow and the wind work which is why the collection is named “The Wind”. James Dyson (the collaborator and founder of Dyson vacuums) was impactful on this project due to his knowledge and expertise of how wind works. In a number of articles and interviews Issey Miyake mentioned how honored he was to work with James Dyson and they actually incorporated and generated wind on the runway. This dress was bought in an auction from the exhibit in Design Museum Holon in Israel
