Description
Year: Spring/Summer 2008
These jeans come from Issey Miyake’s fabric technique-meets-sublabel, A-POC. An abbreviation for “A Piece of Cloth”, the line consists of clothing constructed using a single piece of thread, utilizing state-of-the-art computer technology that Issey himself co-created. Issey Miyake first started the development process for this technique in 1997, and saw its first appearance in 1999 along with Issey Miyake’s Spring/Summer collection. After its debut, the A-POC line was not included in official Issey Miyake shows, but was instead shown in separate presentations. The effect is similar to that seen on intarsia knits. These jeans from Issey Miyake feature a skeleton bone print woven into the denim using the A-POC technique. The bone print is present on the front and back, giving the appearance of an X-Ray of the wearer’s legs. On the back pockets and the inside liner of the front pockets, the same A-POC technique is used to create images of what appears to be bones and piles of skulls.
