Seller Description
Year: Spring/Summer 1999
It may seem out impossible today, but pre-Alessandro Michele, Gucci was all about over-the-top, jet set sex appeal. While Gucci has always been, traditionally speaking, a house centered around Italian-made leather goods, Ford-era Gucci catered directly to a level of luxury that glamorized wealth—from the private plane to the private yacht. This Gucci diving kit from 1999 is an item that manages to embody ’90s logomania and Ford’s ostentatious aesthetic. While, at first glance the set appears to be a traditional snorkeling kit, a closer inspection reveals that the diving fins are covered in Gucci’s Guccissima print. Both the diving goggles and the flippers feature Gucci branding throughout, and are both made in Italy. A Gucci monogram print is featured on the top of the flippers.
