Description
Fall-winter 08 was heavily influenced by traditional British outerwear, where designer Jun Takahashi combined a lot of familiar silhouettes (think Barbour and Belstaff jackets, heavy wools and tweeds) with his own slim, punkish aesthetic. Quality and attention to detail as always are strong, and Undercover’s tailoring is consistently good. These pieces were rare even when released and are now long gone."
In this case, we have a surprisingly light weight pair of pants given the collection here. Design aesthetics a very much in line with the punk/British workwear aesthetic of the season, where these pants are fairly slim but not too flashy to overshadow the tops or outerwear. They’re very solidly built, with of course a unique fabric that you really don’t come across often.
Material here is a 50/50 cotton/polyester blend, done as a pretty light weight knit. I would imagine these were released at the start of the season before the weather turned truly cold. Details include zip fly, branded waist button, and an “S” embroidered near the left knee, reportedly based on a tattoo Patti Smith has in the same spot. Retail was around $400.
