Takahiro Miyashita is no stranger to reconstructed garments. While designing for his pervious label Number (N)ine, reconstruction was a staple in almost all of his clothing. This theme has translated over to his Soloist label, in which Miyashita takes the idea of reconstruction to even further and unique lengths. Made with wool, linen, and sheepskin suede, this riding jacket from The Soloist was made to look as if it had been patched together from materials at hand. The luxurious sheepskin contrasts the rugged wool, creating an interesting juxtaposition which is characteristic of his designs.

Modeled after an early 1940s’ French hunting jacket, this casual blazer features a multitude of pockets, both external and internal. The wool that composes a majority of the jacket features different prints throughout the material, ranging from checks to houndstooth. The mix of patterns combined with the patches of cotton seen throughout the jacket give it a unique and mismatched look.

Another example of The Soloist’s reconstruction ethos, this combination of a lightweight denim jacket and a checkered button up shirt create the exact effect he’s going for.

This reconstructed flannel from Needles showcases the brand’s heavy Americana influence. The shirt is made from scraps of vintage flannels, giving it a unique and worn look that could not be replicated in a factory.

Junya Watanabe is known for his punk-inspired clothing, and this sweater is no different. Mohair sweaters were a huge trend back in the days of the Sex Pistols, and their owners would wear them until they were just threads. This sweater was meant to replicate this style of wear, with rips and tears throughout.

Miyashita’s take on the traditional double breasted blazer, this jacket features an exaggerated peak lapel and a pinstripe. In typical Solist fashion, all the hems on the jacket were left raw, giving the formal jacket a rebellious look.
