New Rock is a Spanish footwear brand founded in 1978 by Pedro Ortuño. Building on the Ortuño family's shoemaking heritage, which goes back as far as 1929, New Rock produces bulky combat-style boots, popular worldwide among goth, punk, and metal subcultures. Designed and produced in Yecla, Spain, New Rock boots such as the 106 ankle boot and the 120 platform shoes rose to global fame in the 1980s with designs that featured chunky soles, metal hardware, studs and buckles. While New Rock has always been a popular brand in specific subcultures, the brand crossed over to avant-garde fashion in 2022 through a collaboration with Vetements.
