After graduating from the London College of Fashion, Irish designer Jonathan Anderson launched his brand J.W. Anderson in 2008. Starting with menswear exclusively, Anderson’s collections weren’t big in Europe initially due to his free-for-all, whimsical approach. While not initially successful in Europe, his work garnered a cult following in Asia, which eventually spread to the U.S. and Europe. In 2010, he launched a women’s capsule collection that was a massive success and led to a full women’s line. In 2015, he became the first designer to win the British Fashion Council’s Menswear and Womenswear Designer of the Year Awards in the same year. In recent years, Anderson has gained visibility due to his collaborations with Converse and Uniqlo.
